The best time to cruise on the Vistula is from May to September when average daytime temperatures rise from 15°C (59°F) and 25°C (77°F) at the height of summer. Nightime temperarures will be 8°C to 14°C.
The Vistula is the largest river in Poland and flows 651 miles (1,047 kilometres) through Pomerania passing nature reserves, castles and palaces and historic town and cities. The Vistula rises in the western Beskid range, in southern Poland and flows generally from south to north through the mountains and foothills of southern Poland and across the lowland areas of the great North European Plain, ending in a delta estuary that enters the Baltic Sea near the Hanseatic city of Gdansk.  
Upper Vistula

The Vistula has its source at Barania Góra in the south of Poland, 1220m above sea level in the western part of Carpathian Mountains where it begins with the White Little Vistula (Biala Wiselka) and the Black Little Vistula (Czarna Wiselka). It then continues to flow over the vast Polish plains, passing several large Polish cities along its way, including Kraków, Sandomierz before reaching Warsaw.

Lower Vistula

River cruises travel from Warsaw in central Poland to the Hanseatic city of Gdansk on the Baltic Sea and back again. Downstream from the palaces of Warsaw, you can visit the cathedral at Plock, Wloclawek, Gothic Torun, Swiecie, Grudziadz, the churches of Bydgoszcz and castles at Tczew before arriving at historic Gdansk.

Vistula Lagoon

You can also cruise the lagoon at the mouth of the river and visit Frombork, and Kaliningrad in Russia. The Vistula Lagoon is a fresh water lagoon on the Baltic Sea separated from Gdansk Bay by the Vistula Spit. It is sometimes known as the Vistula Bay or Vistula Gulf. Cities on the lagoon include Kaliningrad, Baltiysk, Primorsk in Russia and Elblag, Tolkmicko, Frombork - the workplace of Copernicus, Krynica Morska in Poland. Kaliningrad and Baltiysk are currently major seaports on the lagoon.
